What is Emergency Management? Emergency Management is the process of coordinating resources to deal effectively with emergencies to save lives and minimize economic loss. The four phases of emergency management include: preparation, response, mitigation, and recovery. Of these, preparation is the most important. As this site is developed further, we will provide the public with information to help prepare for a variety of emergencies that can affect the citizens in Marion County, Illinois. This includes situations ranging from Winter Storms to Tornados and Fires. |

The Marion
County, Illinois, Emergency Services started as Civil Defense in 1960. Don Brooks was
appointed as coordinator and Sharon Brooks as Assistant Coordinator in
1998. I would like to thank Coordinator John Stover, who was the
previous Coordinator, for all of his help and in doing a great job.
